Bio

Jelani Davis is a Lead Attorney at the Property Advocates and was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He has always wanted to be an advocate for those in need and has over 15 years of experience in civil and criminal litigation. Currently, Mr. Davis is responsible for providing strategic guidance and litigates all aspects of first-party property cases from pre-suit to post-verdict.

He has spent most of his legal career in the courtroom trying civil and criminal cases, including breach of contract, negligent security, narco-trafficking, homicide, Hobbs Act Robbery, DUI, and a plethora of bench trials. He was the lead counsel for the first and only full hearing of an ethics Complaint in front of the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics in 2017.

Before joining the Property Advocates, Mr. Davis honed his civil litigation skills working for an insurance defense firm where he represented insurance companies. Mr. Davis is also a former Assistant Public Defender, where he provided indigent criminal defense to those in the need within the community. After working as a Public Defender, he continued representing criminal defendants as an Assistant Regional Counsel 3rd District and a private criminal defense practitioner.

He has tried over 60 trials in both the State and Federal court systems. Jelani is a member of the Florida Justice Association (FJA) and a member of the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA). He has a Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law, where he was a member of Moot Court and earned a Book Award in Trial Advocacy Procedure. He is a Minority Participation in Legal Education Scholar and graduated from Florida A&M University, earning a B.A.

Jelani is an avid South Florida sports fan and enjoys taking his family tailgating at UM and Miami Dolphins football games.
